Russel Wright Granite Gray Rectangular Serving Platter or Tray. Superb Organic Design with a Minimalist Aesthetic. American Modern was produced by Steubenville Pottery in East Liverpool, Ohio from 1939-1959. Measurement: Approximately 13 5/8" L. X 9" W. Condition: Excellent. Color is good, there is no crazing, no cracks and no chips. Oval Serving Platter American Modern designed by Russell Wright for Steubenville Pottery is a multifunctional piece . . use it as a tray to hold a creamer and sugar, condiments or serve dinner. This platter is perfect for pancakes . . . The platter is oblong but the edges are rounded with a curve. This glaze, Gray Granite, has a range of earthy colors - as with natural granite. Russel Wright was very concerned about the glaze and the quality of his pottery. That concern and attention to detail are evident in this piece. . .
